Just wondering if any of you have seen this error message before and if you have, were you able to resolve it WITHOUT doing a reinstall?

This application has failed to start because pthreadGC2.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this.
I know the file is on my system but don't know if it's in the wrong directory and if so why it moved. I haven't installed anything new in the way of software or hardware.

It is in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin direcory.

This message just started appearing ths morning but Ultra does finish loading and appears to function normally.

I'd really like to avoid the hassle of a reinstall due to the activation nightmare stories.

I'd post this on the SM forums in the hope that Mark Mapes would respond but everytime I try to go to http://www.seriousmagic.com I get redirected to the Adobe Site

Odd, but I can't find this pthreadGC2.dll file on my computer.
Yet Ultra still works perfectly.

My suggestion would be to copy the dll you have and paste it in the Bin Directory of Ultra.

Are you perchance running Boot Camp on an Apple?  My Ultra (PC) runs fine and that file is not on my hard drive.

I googled it and found many references to the file.  Looks as if has to do with a codec.  (Maybe a corrupt codec?) There were also a couple of references to Nero (burning software.)  Good luck.

Richard,

Thank you for the well reasoned suggestion. All is back to functioning without the error. I appreciated the advice.

Jim,

In case anyone else gets the same problem, what was the solution?

Simon,

Doing what Richard suggested. I just copied the missing pthreadGC2.dll into the Ultra2 /bin directory. Don't know why that hadn't occured to me.  I keep telling my wife I'm the smartest guy she knows.  Now all I gotta do is make sure she doesn't meet Richard Smiley
